This role is based at a co-educational secondary provision in the Basingstoke area, specialising in providing education and care to young people between the ages of 10 to 16. Each child has Social, Emotional and Mental Health Needs as well as additional, associated needs so do require a certain level of support and care.
The school have brilliant facilities including computer suites, fitness/gym facilities and a brand new library. The main aim of this school is to provide opportunities to children and young adults to help them to thrive and encourage them to reach their potential with the skills necessary to overcome barriers. Building confidence and strong self-esteem plays a significant role in their student's ability to learn and achieve. You'd be responsible for equipping students with life skills to prepare students for Post-16 education and inspiring them with a wide range of experiences, developing the cultural capital of the young people at this facility.
This would be a full time role starting from January and could be a permanent placement for the right candidate.
You will be expected to:
- Carry out any duties of an appropriate nature as may be reasonably required by the Head of Campus.
- Impart knowledge, skills and understanding to each pupil following planned schemes of work that deliver the National Curriculum both within and if appropriate, outside the prescribed Key Stages.
- Undertake class teaching including planning and preparing relevant lessons, assessing work and recording and reporting back on development.
- Actively support and promote moral, social and cultural development of student curriculum and values.
- Participate in arrangements within an agreed national framework for the appraisal of their own performance and that of other staff.
- Play a full part in the cycle of school life.
- A sensitive attitude towards students.
- The ability to contribute positively to the team.
- High standards of personal presentation and punctuality.
- A willingness to commit fully to whole school life.
- Great communication skills with students, staff and parents.
- Engaging lesson plans and ideas to extend the children's interests.
